Dar es Salaam. March 19, 2024: Joining the Muslim community in the Holy Month of Ramadan, CRDB Bank has provided an Iftar and other essential supplies to centers caring for children with special needs.

The Iftar, which took place yesterday after the Maghrib prayer and iftar held at the Johari Rotana Hotel in the city, involving clients, partners, management, and other key stakeholders, was received by the Masjid Suleiman Children's Center in Kigamboni District and Masjid Aqswaa in Mbezi Luis, Ubungo District.

Addressing the guests, CRDB Bank's Chief Executive Officer, Abdulmajid Nsekela, stated that the month of Ramadan is a period for coming together with family, relatives, and loved ones during iftar, which is why the bank he leads has adopted a tradition of organizing special iftar for clients and other stakeholders to uphold this pillar of Islam that builds obedience, patience, and good behavior towards the Creator and fellow humans. "In these iftar gatherings, we have been uniting with our counterparts facing difficult circumstances, acknowledging that the month of Ramadan is accompanied by giving charity or assisting the less fortunate. Alongside this iftar we organized for our clients and stakeholders, our bank finds it comforting to assist centers catering to those with special needs," Nsekela said before handing over rice, flour, sugar, beans, pasta, dates, oil, milk, tea leaves, and soap to each center. Additionally, Nsekela took the opportunity to explain how CRDB Bank designs products and services that cater to the needs of Muslims as well as all Tanzanians by considering their faith, mentioning CRDB Al Barakah and Takaful.

Regarding Takaful, he said it's an insurance based on Sharia principles to help customers protect their assets and businesses by their beliefs. He stated that both services, CRDB Al Barakah and Takaful, are available at all of CRDB Bank's over 260 branches across the country.

"Our bank has established services that adhere to Sharia principles to include many Tanzanians in financial services without compromising their faith. CRDB Al Barakah is an account that enables various groups of customers to embark on the pilgrimage journey of Hajj and Umrah. Since its establishment in 2021, it has already included over 150,000 Tanzanians and provided loans worth over 135 billion Tanzanian shillings," Nsekela said.

The event was attended by Sheikh Aboubakar Bin Ali Zuberi, the Grand Mufti of Tanzania, who was the guest of honor represented by Deputy Kadhi and Acting Grand Mufti of Tanzania, Sheikh Ally Khamis Ngeruko, who stated that the Holy Month of Ramadan is an important period for Muslims to draw closer to their Creator.

"Our lives as human beings here on earth are very short. We have every reason to do good deeds that please Almighty God for our fellow human beings. Our Lord loves to see us cooperate and love one another. Let us do this for our future when we leave this world," said Sheikh Ngeruko. The Acting Grand Mufti added, "I also congratulate CRDB Bank for designing services based on Sharia principles because this will not only increase financial inclusion in our society, especially for believers of our religion, but it will also involve them in investment and the development of our nation." Representing the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila, the District Commissioner of Ilala, Edward Mpogolo, praised CRDB Bank for bringing together its customers, government leaders, and children with special needs.

"Society should come together to plan their development. This is a good arrangement for bringing together stakeholders from different areas and offices. It provides an opportunity to meet and exchange experiences. Congratulations to CRDB Bank for this event and for the gifts you have given to these children with special needs," said Mpogolo.
