In its continued effort to promote digital financial inclusion among Tanzanians, CRDB Bank has set aside TZS 2 billion to be awarded to customers who emerge as top users of its SimBanking services. The fund was announced by the Acting Managing Director of CRDB Bank, Frederick Nshekanabo, during the launch of the sixth season of the “Benki ni SimBanking” campaign, which has been enhanced this year under the theme “SiMBanking Benki Kimpango Wako” “We will have winners every week, every month, and every quarter before announcing the grand prize winners of the campaign. All these rewards will amount to TZS 2 billion,” said Nshekanabo. Unlike previous seasons where one overall winner would receive a car, this year’s campaign introduces more innovative rewards. Instead of a single grand prize winner, five winners will each receive a seven-day trip to Europe, visiting three countries to be announced later. “In addition to the trip, each of the five winners will receive TZS 1 million for shopping during their stay in Europe,” Nshekanabo emphasized. Apart from the European trip winners, five other winners will be awarded a fully sponsored three-day tour to Serengeti National Park in quarterly draws. Other quarterly prizes will go to customers transacting through CRDB Bank agents or using cardless services, who will win 65-inch televisions. A total of 33 winners (11 per quarter) will receive these prizes. Customers using tokenization services or sending money via SimBanking to non-CRDB customers are also eligible under this category. For customers using CRDB Bank agents, Nshekanabo stated: “We will award cash prizes totaling TZS 60 million to three winners. The first winner will receive TZS 30 million, the second TZS 20 million, and the third TZS 10 million.” On a weekly and monthly basis, the campaign will also offer cash prizes, smartphones, and laptops to customers, agents, and university students across the country. Speaking on eligibility, Nshekanabo noted that every Tanzanian has a chance to win simply by using SimBanking. “Even if you open an account today and start using SimBanking, you will be entered into our draws,” he said. CRDB Bank has been running this campaign for several years to encourage customers and the general public to adopt digital banking services, in line with the global shift away from cash transactions. The impact of the campaign continues to grow, with over 95% of all transactions within CRDB Bank now conducted through various digital platforms. “Through SimBanking, one of our most important digital platforms, we have achieved significant transformation in service delivery. Customers can now open accounts, perform transactions, pay bills, access loans, make investments, purchase insurance, and manage their finances entirely through their mobile phones without visiting a bank branch,” Nshekanabo concluded.
